Whilst away for the week and consuming copious amounts of alcohol I was in the mood for a quick and sexy audiobook to help pass the time upon my return to work. This one did just the job - scandalous, drama-filled, and sexy this book hits all the buttons for the making of great erotica. Throw in not one but multiple tattooed bad boys and desperate preppy girls this story is the perfect mix of disaster and smut.

Written in a dual narrative through the eyes of Ace and Remi this book adds a new layer to the bad boy/good girl trope. Both characters view each other underneath the lens society has created for them. Remi believes Ace, as rugged and dangerous as he is, is nothing more than a gang member and refuses to let him get underneath her skin. Ace sees Remi as a rich girl who will never know otherwise - he wants to own her.

The possessive nature of Ace toward Remi started off as a playful flirtation. But as I kept reading it no longer felt like a flirtation and borderlines on obsessive behaviour. Despite an obvious physical and sexual connection to one another, Remi and Ace's relationship is extremely toxic, especially Ace's behaviour towards her. He does not take her consent into account initially and his narration is constantly filled with an I-don't-take-no-for-an-answer attitude.

It became hard to sympathise with Ace as time went on. The story doesn't truly reveal anything about his intentions with his uncle - so for the most part all of his bad-boy actions make him out to be a brat. His actions are immature and hot-headed. He might be described as a physically attractive character but his personality is trash.

Opinions on the characters aside the storyline are brilliant and add intrigue which will certainly lead into the next book. Especially the climactic ending which, as the ending goes, is extremely abrupt and leaves a lot of open-ended questions. The downside is that the story more or less stops without a proper conclusion or epilogue. At first, I thought the audiobook had been cut short or hadn't been downloaded properly. Turns out the author brings a whole new meaning to cliffhangers and has definitely grabbed my attention enough to make me want to read the rest of this sexy series.
